Evaluation of financial management alternatives in an artisanal organization in Zuleta, Ecuador

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the technical and financial feasibility of financial management alternatives for the organization of embroiderers and artisans in Zuleta, Ecuador, in order to select the most suitable option to optimize its economic and financial management. A mixed-methods approach was adopted. In the quantitative phase, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to compare three alternatives: the manual method, web application development, and commercial software, considering five criteria: economic impact, development cost, usability, accessibility, and security. Model consistency was verified (CR < 0.10). Additionally, an ex-ante financial analysis was conducted, including a five-year cash flow projection. In the qualitative phase, surveys and interviews were administered to members and directors of the organization. The AHP results indicated that the web application achieved the highest overall score (0.389), outperforming the manual method (0.322) and commercial software (0.289), particularly in terms of economic impact and usability. The financial analysis showed positive annual net cash flows, demonstrating medium-term feasibility. Qualitative findings confirmed the need for greater transparency, control, and access to financial information. The development of a web application constitutes the most appropriate alternative from a technical, economic, and organizational perspective to strengthen the financial management of the analyzed organization.
