Evaluation process
Articles and submissions will be posted at:

The Scientific Committee may request contributions, which must comply with the requirements outlined in the guidelines and instructions for authors. The Editorial Committee, prior to the publication of the articles, will inform the authors of the acceptance decision.
At Revista San Gregorio, the first evaluation is conducted internally by the Editor through the Open Journal System (OJS). If the manuscript presents formal deficiencies or does not fall within the thematic scope of the publication, the Editorial Board will dismiss it for formal reasons or for not aligning with the journal's themes, without the option for resubmission. Once the article is rejected, there will be no further correspondence with the author.
On the other hand, if the manuscript has only superficial formal deficiencies, it will be returned to the author for correction before the evaluation process begins. The submission date of the paper will not be considered until the corrected manuscript is received. Therefore, we strongly recommend that authors check their manuscript using self-review tools before submission.
The second evaluation is the peer review process, where an anonymous copy of the article is assigned to external reviewers through the OJS platform. The reviewers must be external to both the Publishing Institution and the country, and are selected based on their field of research and relevance to the topics addressed in the article, considering the academic degree of the reviewer (which must be equal to or higher than that of the author).
When conducting an external peer review to the Editorial Committee, the manuscript under review must be treated as a confidential document until its publication. This confidentiality must be maintained during and after the review process. Reviewers must not disseminate or use the information, details, arguments, or interpretations contained in the text for personal gain or to harm others. Only in special cases may the reviewer seek the advice of other specialists, a circumstance that must be communicated to the Editorial Committee at: revista@sangregorio.edu.ec. The peer review is conducted using the evaluation form available on the OJS platform.
The final decision by the editor will be based on the reviewers’ evaluations:
If there are corrections or suggestions (minor or major), they will be sent to the authors for consideration within no more than fifteen (15) business days (in this case, the author does not know the names of the peer reviewers). If there is any doubt, the work may be sent to a third reviewer. The Editorial Committee may not assign an evaluator to a manuscript if they have a relationship with the author(s) up to the third degree of consanguinity or the second degree of affinity.
In general, after reviewing the external scientific evaluations (from the peers), the criteria justifying the decision to accept/reject the manuscripts by the Editorial Committee are as follows:
- a) Timeliness and novelty.
b) Relevance and significance: advancement of scientific knowledge.
c) Originality.
d) Scientific reliability and validity: tested methodological quality.
e) Organization of the work (logical coherence and formal presentation).
g) Co-authorships and level of internationalization of the proposal and the team.
i) Presentation: good writing.
Authors will be able to track the editorial process of their manuscript on the OJS platform and will receive the anonymous scientific evaluation reports to make the necessary improvements or responses.
