Abstract

The topics inherent to the organizational culture of family businesses hold significant socioeconomic relevance. The canton of Portoviejo, in the province of Manabí, Ecuador, is predominantly composed of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), many of which are family-owned. The objective of the research was to analyze the impact of organizational culture on the operational performance of family businesses in Portoviejo, Ecuador.A quantitative, descriptive study with a multivariate analysis approach was conducted, enabling the identification of patterns, correlations, and dependencies among multiple dimensions of family business data. This was based on primary information gathered through surveys administered to representatives of family businesses. To understand the structure of family businesses, a questionnaire with eight dimensions was developed. The study included 368 participants who responded to the questionnaire using a Likert scale.The findings revealed that the complexity and interconnection of the elements comprising family business management underscore the need for a holistic and proactive approach to ensure their long-term success and sustainability.
